Prodir is a leading Swiss company specializing in the development and marketing of customizable Swiss-made pens. The company’s research and development (R&D) department is dedicated to the molding, coloring, and surface control of polymers. In recent years, the company has formulated a manifesto to realign its corporate objectives towards a commitment to serious and systematic sustainability. As part of this initiative, the True Biotic range was introduced. This collection proudly features the use of PHA, a polymer generated through a non-energy-intensive process that involves feeding bacteria, avoiding the exploitation of local resources. The remaining portion of the pens has been adapted to be produced with internally recycled ABS, or externally sourced if the raw material is unavailable. Throughout this transformation, the integration of product design and strategic consultancy played a crucial role in achieving tangible sustainability goals. The company’s commitment to sustainable practices extends to the production of new pens. The focus is not only on creating durable and long-lasting pens but also on reducing plastic usage. This includes eliminating unnecessary surface treatments from the product portfolio, utilizing disused molds to generate new products, and establishing a new aesthetic of sustainability. Internationally recognized, the design of Prodir’s pens remains a benchmark for the entire sector and beyond.
